_____
Appearance:
From left to right, Ping, Xanadu. When under the proper mob care, Xanadu was a beautiful meerkat with dark red fur surrounding body and head, with delicate white on her face and belly. (sorry, not very good at appearance)
Personality:Ever since her appearance to the mob as first arising pup in just another litter for Starlight, Xanadu was popular with the mob. She was pretty, without many ticks, quite unaggressive and welcome to all. She loved playing with pups and socializing with the other mob members, and was greeted with friendly chirps. And as she was fine with subordinate position, she was actually the ideal meerkat. The dominant female, evicting Xanadu's aunts and sisters, never put so much as a scratch forth to her thick coat.
But Xanadu was just a bit too social. At the age of two and one year mature, she became the perfect candidate for the all too familiar fate of eviction. Rovers came round during summertime, and the oddly friendly Xanadu greeted them whilst the others chased him off. Sometimes it looked as though fear was absent in her world, as she ran towards the snake and warned no one. And, when she was alone, the quiet was too much for the social subordinate and she found herself a rover to keep company during her family's absence. And the next day, Xanadu found herself alone.
Evicted.
History:During eviction, Xanadu cried out to the Kalahari night, alone and frightened underground. It was like with one movement all her trust of the Starlight mob was knocked out entirely. When she saw them or smelled them, she ran away, and eventually out of the region were Starlight had lived. Out of her native land, and into the land of the Loners. Xanadu was destroyed by loneliness, she stuck by the first rover she found. Ping, a small meerkat of similar age and size.
Loathing the idea of being alone again, she followed him and the coalition of loners he joined, making her a nomad. They had moved on every day, and this would be her life for two years. Xanadu was still cold, miserable, not fit for such a wild life style. Only the strong would survive and look out for yourself were the laws of the land. During siestas in the hot summer days, she would groom Ping but get nothing in return. She was a very social meerkat, but these ones kept to themselves, and were quite aloof.
Exhausted after a one year journey with these meerkats, Xanadu wore the signs of a neglected, hard life. Her ribs had shown in her previously well kept fur, scars on her stomach from older, more dominant female loners. She couldn't keep up any more. Xanadu was used to attention and care, and these meerkats were born into toughness. They reached a land, a land which had the lushness of trees and rains and rich, fat food that could support mobs. Just like her birth land. Here, the coalition split up; Xanadu chose to stick by Ping's side.
They were connected, if loosely at times, but they would come together when the sun had fell. Ping and Xanadu became closer, the two slept together in the shade of a tree with the hot sun shining above, groomed each other. She appreciated the company, but still dreamed of mob life. Everyday of the year, when survival was not on mind, she looked for other meerkats. And one day, she saw one. Greeting Ping, perhaps, one last time, Xanadu left off for the Hawkseye. She saw a new life, and no matter what she would face on the way, Xanadu Starlight would become Xanadu Starlight Hawkseye, a member of the family and for once, happy again.
